Tecnocupole Pancaldi and EnergRed told pv magazine Italia that they have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for a new photovoltaic system on the roof of the Tecnocupole Pancaldi industrial plant. The roof in the industrial district of Castel San Pietro Terme (Bologna) covers 4,500 square meters.
Opened at the end of 2023 in the Le Morelline industrial area in Rosignano Marittimo, the new plant, which covers an area of 2,000 square meters and employs between 40 and 60 people in four operating divisions, has been involved in a green project that sees Energred and Lavanderia Arizona united in their commitment to corporate sustainability and the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
With a capacity of 486 kWp, the new photovoltaic system supports Europlastics’ sustainability strategy aimed at reducing its consumption and offsetting its emissions: 292 tons of CO2 avoided per year, equivalent to 3,890 trees planted.
EnergRed strengthens its position with a capital increase open to industrial and professional investors. The group is active in the photovoltaic energy sector and has begun the process of recapitalizing EnergRed Sdg, a sub-holding company that controls 100% of EnergRed Power Plant. The vehicle owns all of the group’s energy assets and 51% of Energred Impact, the joint venture with Alternative Capital Partners sgr, a fund manager dedicated to the development of renewable energy assets.
In the presence of the mayor and regional authorities, the photographic book “Acqua Corrente” (Running Water) will also be presented on this occasion. Commissioned by EnergRed, it uses images to convey the feelings of citizens, brought to light thanks to the immersive experience of photographers who lived within the community itself.
EnergRed has signed an agreement with Alternative Capital Partners (ACP), an alternative fund management company, to accelerate the use of money in the real economy with projects that have a positive environmental impact and produce energy where it is used.
The climate emergency is taking on increasingly dramatic proportions, and in recent years we have been witnessing increasingly frequent extraordinary weather conditions in our country as well.
“In Italy alone, there were 310 extreme events in 2022, with 29 confirmed deaths. But in the first five months of 2023, there was a 135% increase compared to the same period last year, with 122 extreme events,” note the specialists at EnergRed (www.energred.com), referring to reports from the Italian Society of Environmental Medicine (Sima).
Take almonds, capers, Nori seaweed, water, vitamin B2, edible gold, beeswax, and a pinch of activated carbon, and voilà: the rechargeable food-derived battery is assembled. It sounds like science fiction, yet this technology is making great strides.
No energy withdrawal restrictions, a fixed energy price for self-consumption, and free transfer of the system at the end of the contract are the other key features of the systems produced by what is now considered the ‘Ferrari of photovoltaics’, a brand—EnergRed—destined to become as iconic as the Prancing Horse or Coca-Cola, of which the founder of E.S.Co.—engineer Moreno Scarchini—was director for over 5 years, with responsibility for the supply chain in 6 countries.
Photovoltaic systems will have exceeded 2.2 GWp (+145% compared to 2021) by December 31, 2022, allowing Italy to reach 24.9 GWp of total installed capacity, or 35% of the PNIEC target for 2030. These figures, based on data from Terna Italia and Forum Italia Solare, were compiled by EnergRed analysts Dorina Polinari and Giorgio Mottironi, respectively Solar Energy Manager and Strategy Advisor & CMO of the company.
Puglia leads the EnergRed ranking with 3 GWp of installed capacity, closely followed by Lombardy with 2.97 GWp.
Three other northern regions follow: Emilia-Romagna (2.4 GWp), Veneto (2.37 GWp), and Piedmont (1.92 GWp). They are followed by three other northern regions: Emilia-Romagna (2.4 GWp), Veneto (2.37 GWp), and Piedmont (1.92 GWp).
Sicily—the land of “energy gold”—ranks sixth with 1.7 GWp, while other large productive regions such as Tuscany and Campania lag far behind, with less than 1 GWp of installed capacity.
Italy produces only 23% of the energy it consumes, but with renewables it could triple its current energy independence—quintupling the average of the last 20 years—by 2023. This was revealed by an analysis by EnergRed (E.S.C.o, which is committed to supporting the energy transition of Italian SMEs, with a particular focus on renewable sources and solar energy), which highlights how Italy’s energy independence is one of the lowest in Europe, amplifying the effects of the current supply crisis on citizens’ wallets, and more.
The Rome-based energy company EnergRed has built a photovoltaic plant for the WBO Italcables cooperative in Caivano (Naples), which produces cables for prestressed reinforced concrete. The solar system will supply the company with electricity at a record price for Italy, without emitting greenhouse gases: €94 per megawatt hour for the next 20 years, 40% of the protected electricity tariff for citizens and 50% of that for energy-intensive companies. EnergRed announced this in a press release.
With the cost of raw materials likely to fluctuate between €180 and €210 per MWh, the bill for the Italian manufacturing sector is projected to reach €34 billion, or even €57 billion if the agricultural and service sectors are also taken into account. This is highlighted in an analysis updated on March 10, 2022, by EnergRed (www.energred.com), an ESCO committed to supporting the energy transition of Italian SMEs with a particular focus on renewable sources and solar energy.
The alarm was raised by the Minister for Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani, who spoke of a 40% increase in electricity and gas prices for the next quarter. But why another hike in bills? “It’s happening because the international price of gas is rising, because the price of CO2 certificates is also rising, and because demand linked to the electrification of consumption is growing,” explains Moreno Scarchini, CEO of EnergRed.
Environmentalists used to dislike them because they said they spoiled the landscape. Now that we understand how much clean energy they help to generate, we also understand that there are never enough of them. We are, of course, talking about photovoltaic systems. But how many are there in our country? To answer this question, we turn to EnergRed, an ESCO committed to supporting the energy transition of Italian SMEs.
Electricity bills are set to rise. Why the increase in electricity bills? The alarm was raised by the Minister for Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani, who spoke of a 40% increase for the next quarter. “This is happening because the international price of gas is rising, because the prices of CO2 certificates are also rising, and because demand linked to the electrification of consumption is growing,” explains Moreno Scarchini, CEO of EnergRed.

Despite the sharp rise in energy prices, in Puglia, solar energy costs businesses a record low of €103/MWh. This was highlighted by EnergRed.com, which now aims to make photovoltaics the most affordable energy source for businesses by 2022, bringing the LCOE to €0.054/kWh throughout Italy.
Despite the sharp rise in energy prices, solar energy in Puglia has reached a new record low cost for businesses: €103/MWH.
Leveled energy costs are an index of the competitiveness of different electricity generation technologies, diversified by type of energy source and average plant life. In Italy, they are 10% lower than the European average.
